About Disability Community Awareness

Peter move to Ipswich in October 1997 from the Brisbane Bayside suburb of Wynnum, while continuing his IT business at Coopers Plains, Linda grew up in Ipswich as a child and returned to Ipswich in beginning of 2003.

In December 1997, Peter started attending the Church in Brassall now known as Catalyst Church then in July 2002 Peter started on staff as a volunteer doing their IT where he still is today.  With the media arm of the church he has assisted with number of events over the years throughout Ipswich.

Upon Linda’s return to Ipswich she started driving for her parents as a courier driver before obtained her Maxi-Taxi licence with Yellow Cabs where she drove up until purchasing the local flower delivery part of the business from her parents October 2008. Linda also started attending Catalyst Church in August 2007.

Due to Linda’s Taxi driving we’ve known of one-other since 2004 and started dating November 2007, got engage 26th December 2008 then married on the 19th September 2009 at Catalyst Church.

We are excited about our role for QDN (Queenslanders with Disability Network) in the Ipswich Community and Every Australian Counts within Qld as we believe with our background knowledge plus working with other agencies across SEQ area, we can assist in making Ipswich a place where people with disabilities want to come to Live, Work, Rest and Play!

July 2016 as Queensland prepared for the roll-out of the NDIS, under Disability Community Awareness while still doing our ambassador roles with Every Australian Counts, plus Peter’s peer-to-peer role with Queenslanders with Disability Network, we continued to raise awareness around the NDIS National Disability Insurance Scheme.

March 2020 we both continued to “Speak up to drive change for the better”, by moving back under Disability Community Awareness (DCA) which we started in 2008. DCA main focus being networking and community engagement, plus encouraging better relationships between participants and the support services they engage, with the aim being to help families and their participants get the most out of their NDIS National Disability Insurance
Scheme plans.
